Congratulations to New York for crafting such an exciting new recreational marijuana law, actually they’re calling it the “The Cannabis Law”. New York got its medical marijuana law signed in 2014. This new bill shows just how wide a state can legalize the plant, where Montana has shown how narrow a state can go. The New York marijuana law will allow anyone 21+ to buy and consume but goes even further to allow for home grows, delivery, and consumption lounges. Wow! And home cultivation for both indoor or outdoor, how many fire escapes and roofs will become greenhouses in the city. But an important goal that the law hopes to accomplish is to help end the longtime bias when policing the low-level marijuana changes that are affecting black and Hispanic people. Although the “The Cannabis Law” still has to be finalized and signed into law, it looks like 2022 will be the year marijuana becomes legal in New York and any New Yorker 21+ can legally roll one up.
